Ryan has a play knife that came with some fake food that he has for his kitchen set. He loves to chew on the knife. We will be taking it away, but first we had to get a picture of it. How cute!!!

Like father, like son
Today was a pretty lazy day. Ry is still not feeling all that well. He had his one year check up. He is 22lbs 10 oz and 32 innches long. Tall and skinny, a true Orcutt. Not only is Ry like his Daddy because he likes meatloaf it looks like he might also have a few allergies. Today at his appointment they had to take blood to do some allergy testing. Hopefully it will give us some answers in to why he has been so sick and why he does not sleep through the night. I would love some answers. Having a sick child is hard on everyone. Enjoy the picture of the snotty nose.

Happy Birthday Ryan!!!!!

This time one year ago Rex and I were just getting use to the fact that we were parents. Ryan was born at 2:36 pm. I remember the instant connection. As soon as he was thrown on my chest I was smitten in love with him. Today we woke up and went to breakfast was a family. Both Rex and I have had our moments where we do the whole I cannot believe that he is one thing. Then it is usually followed with tears and a favorite memory for the past year. Our little boy is walking, starting to talk more. He says momma, daddy, go and up. He also makes this great noise when my sister or the cousins are around. He loves to clap, wave good-bye and give high fives. Of course he does none of these things when I want him to, but he still does them. I woke up this morning and just laughed, my house is cluttered with toys and filled with Ryan and Rex's laughter. God is good, Ryan continues to challenge me and to Bless me. He is so amazing. Before I had Ryan I had a dream about a little boy. I could see him from a distance. That little boy who was in my dreams was Ryan. We are blessed!

Guess who
Guess who took his first steps today, yes Ryan did. I was playing with him in the hallway upstairs and he was chasing me. I was holding his hand and I let go. I continued to run, as I was running I expected to hear him fall down and crawl after me. Instead I just heard laughter. I looked back and he was walking. Yes walking all by himself. He made it about half way down the hallway. I think he was really proud of himself. It was tooo cute. I predicted that before his birthday he would walk without any help. Well we are on our way. His actual birthday is on Tuesday.
Ryan's first birthday
Yesterday was Ryan's birthday party, I was so excited to wake him up and get ready to have a wonderful day. Well he woke me up bright and early and he had a wonderful surprise for me, a runny nose. I did not think it was that bad, but I was wrong. By the time the party rolled around it was like a faucet. He was so fussy, he would cry every time I sat him down. He would for the most part only let me hold him. He definitely has the word mama down. He is getting better at daddy as well. It seems like those are the only things he said yesterday. Well in between his crying fits. I think the hard thing was for me that he did not feel good and we had about 30 people at our home to see him. My baby who is usually happy and loves to play was crying, throwing fits and had snot all over him and me. Auntie Audrey brought some relief, once Ry had some medicine in him he felt a little better. He was still not himself. He did eat a little cake. Most of the frosting ended up all over me. That was pretty cute. Towards the end of the day he started to perk up more. I think that Big Mike even got several smiles and a couple laughs out of him. The Gonzales family bought him his first wagon-it is so cute. It has a little door, he kept getting in and out. He will be walking very soon, he got several toys to help encourage to walk more. It does not seem real that Ry is one, I still remember driving home from the hospital with him. I was sitting in the back seat with Ry and Rex was talking to Uncle Ryan. Rex said several times to Uncle Ryan that it is just amazing to be a parent and Ry is amazing. I really believe if I had to put the last year into one word it would be amazing.
